2010-02-14 A Cornerstone in the New Year
One may think that during Spring Festival, the Church would be quiet. Not so. We enjoyed a stirring collection of worship songs and were able to sing praises almost as loudly as at other times of the year. This week’s sermon focused on the freedom of the Gospel and the power of Jesus. We may think that we have freedom and power in worldly status, but in reality it is only He who can save us and bestow on us power and freedom. As Christians, we must never lose sight of the central role that Jesus’ redemption plays in our lives and how we should rely on His mercy.
As we took Holy Communion we were able to reflect on what Jesus’ atonement means for us individually during the New Year. Can we apply ourselves anew to our walk of Faith, and seek His guidance with ever more vigor? May we challenge ourselves again to experience more of God’s blessings and seek the narrow path in the coming year. Although the Church was not as full as usual, there was plenty to celebrate and thanksgiving abounded. The HEF continues to be a Salt and Light in the Haidian District and will surely continue to go from strength to strength.
