12 Sep 2010 Sunday

Acts 6:1-7  (New International Version)
Acts 6  The Choosing of the Seven
1  In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Grecian Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food.
2  So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, "It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the Word of God in order to wait on tables.
3  Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them
4  and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the Word."
5   This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism.
6   They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.
7  So the Word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.

This Sunday’s message was about a caring congregation, pastor Wu and our honored guest speaker from US shared with us a great  mission for Haidian church - they encouraged brothers and sisters to be enthusiastic about the church work, for a Chinese church with thousands of brothers and sisters’ attendance, it's impossible for several pastors to feed & take good care of each and every sheep. All christians are encouraged use each own gift given by God to serve one another in God’s family.

There are  three groups especially in today’s churches of China that should be taken good care of:
1)    widows
2)    orphans and children Sunday school
3)    the disabled

Our guest speaker gave us a concrete example of his own family. When his father accidentally passed away while he was little, the local church took the responsibility for the broken family - a widowed mother, with a little boy and an unborn baby….If they didn’t get special love and help from the local church, he wouldn’t have been here standing among us sharing God’s amazing grace.

The time has come to foster more and more Bible study groups for all mature christians and help the needy in the church.  Haidian church  welcomes brothers and sisters, gifted with burning & willing hearts, actively join the serving teams. As we care for everyone's spiritual life in our church and community,  to help,  influence, love, touch,  change more and more lives around us for the glory of God.
