Bible VersesMatthew 28:18-20 (NIV)
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Dear brothers and sisters, I’m so happy to see you today. Many people have already gone back to their home town for the Spring Festival. This is a great opportunity for us to share the Gospel with friends & relatives back home. Many of you have prepared gifts for them for the holiday. I would like to ask what gifts should be given? Something beautiful, something meaningful.. some people like to give the traditional little red envelopes (Hong bao, which contains money notes) for children & youngsters.  It should be reminded, brothers and sisters, the greatest and the best gift ever is Jesus. We encourage you to introduce Jesus to your relatives and friends in your home town, this is the most meaningful thing to do during these many days all over the country.

In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus gives the disciples the great commission, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”  Jesus gives the great commission to all of us here today, in order to empower us to do that well, here are some guiding points that will help:

 1)    Eager to share the Gospel with people
The Spring Festival is a big holiday in China, most of us would go back to our home town to be with family together, now even though some of us haven’t bought a ticket yet, even though transportation is crowed, but we desire to share love with our relatives. Likewise, we are eager to share the Gospel with people, do the will of God at the same time. We thank God for the great opportunity of going back for so many days, in Romans 10:15: “And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, 'How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!' ”    God is leading us in this great mission. “ How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” Romans 10:14.

But when we are eager to share the Gospel with others, we might encounter obstacles, that may let us feel down sometimes, the fear of being rejected; the fear of losing face; do not know how to share the Gospel; we seem to have no power to change others, etc.   It is said, that, in this world the number of death is more than 160,000 every day, I wonder how many of them have already believed in Jesus before they pass away, each of them is going to heaven or hell?   Our God is patient to all people in the world, salvation is for all of those who accept Jesus as Savior. Jesus Christ came into the world more than 2000 years ago, as the Word became flesh, He showed us the greatest example - lived a perfect life, explained & taught us the Word, died in our place, paid for all our sins in order for God’s children to have eternal life.

Jesus sees that saving people’s souls are more important than anything else in the world. He says if you gained the whole world, but lost your life, it’s not worthy - “But what good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?” Matthew 16:26.  Let’s try every chance to tell more and more people abut Jesus!  Even if we might be rejected, or people do not appreciate us, we shouldn’t easily give up. “Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.”  Psalm 126:5.  And in Romans 1:16:” I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentiles.”

2)    What will we share? - Share God’s love and His commandments
In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus tells us to share God’s love and His commandments, “and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Surely I’m with you always, to very end of the age.” So this is what Jesus tells us to do. In Romans 10:17, “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ.”  The Word of God is powerful. “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12.

a)    If you are not sure how to share the Gospel to others, or what to share first, you may tell others what God has done in your life, about your life experience, you may share before you met Jesus, what kind of situation you were in, what kind of person you were; after you’ve encountered Jesus, how have you changed, what kind of characters you have developed, and give examples.

b)    And you can share God’s Word from the Bible, share what you know about Jesus, tell them about John 3:16:” For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, whoever believes in him, should not perish but have everlasting life.” Jesus died for all,  He loves us all.

3) The power is from God Himself
Dear Brothers and sisters, do not be disturbed by negative attitudes if any, just try your best.  Pray and share God’s Word and God’s love with your friends.  In deed we have no power to change people, but the power of God works in us, with us, so please do not lose heart. In 1 Corinthians 3:7, “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow.” So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. Yes, there is power in the Word of God, in Matthew 28:18-20, “Then Jesus came to them and said, 'All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.’ ” We have no power to change people’s minds, people’s lives, but the power of Jesus can change people’s lives!

"And teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:20. When we pray, when we share the Good News with people, Jesus sees us, with all the authority in heaven and on earth, will confirm with us, works in the lives of those He chooses, even we can’t see the whole pictures of how Jesus touches their hearts, we can see the results from time to time, one by one.

Jesus lives, He is with us, to the very end of the age.   Dear brothers and sisters, as you will meet many friends and relatives in the Spring Festival, even you meet strangers on your way, think about the Gospel, pray to God for every chance, ask God to prepare people’s hearts, and ask God to prepare our own hearts and give us wisdom to talk, talk about the Gospel, introduce Jesus to them. It may change more lives and save more souls by His will.  “ For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentiles.” Romans 1:16.   Amen!  Praise God!

Worship Song: Jesus Loves Me

Jesus loves me this I know
for the Bible tells me so.
Little ones to Him belong
They are weak
but He is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
The Bible tells me so

Jesus loves me
He who died
Heaven's gates to open wide.
He will wash away my sin
Let His little child come in.

Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
The Bible tells me so

Jesus loves me
when I'm good
When I do the things I should.
Jesus loves me when I'm bad
Even though it makes Him sad.

Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
The Bible tells me so.
