Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 3:19-21, 10:1,15:22-23
3:19 The LORD was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of his words fall to the ground.
3:20 And all Israel from Dan to Beersheba recognized that Samuel was at- tested as a prophet of the LORD.
3:21 The LORD continued to appear at Shiloh, and there he revealed himself to Sam- uel through his word.
10:1 Then Samuel took a flask of oil and poured it on Saul’s head and kissed him, saying, “Has not the LORD anointed you leader over his inheritance?
15:22 But Samuel replied: “Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.
15:23 For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you as king.”
